Having a set of fun activities and teaching resources that you can use with any list of spelling or vocabulary words is a must in any classroom. Alternatively, they are a great homework activity!

Wordketball
Kids love this!
Print out your list of words and display them on a word wall. Students line up in two teams at the hoop and have to read the word that is shown to them. Alternatively, you could read out a definition of a word and they need to try and guess what word it is!
The student who gets it right gets to take a shot for a point for their team.
The team with they most points at the end of the activity are the winners!

Why not pick four activities and have students move around to each activity in small groups!
Vocab BINGO
Kids love BINGO!
Create your own BINGO cards using the spelling words for the week! Use our blank bingo cards, and customise them on our website. Alternatively, laminate a small group set and simply write the words you want on them with a whiteboard marker. Then you can wipe them clean and re-use them for the following week!
Read out definitions and have the students find the matching word!
Laminated Activities – Lower Primary
Rather than using our Generic Spelling Activity Worksheet Packas worksheets, print on coloured paper and laminate the set!
This makes for an easy and fun activity that your students can do with any set of spelling words!
Celebrity Heads with Words
Love this idea!
Simply create a hat using coloured card and use Blu Takto stick a word to a student’s hat! They then need to work out what spelling word they are wearing by asking their class or small group questions such as: Am I a noun? Am I a verb? Do I start with a consonant letter?
Kids love this and it is so simple and easy to create.
Vocab and Definition Memory⌛
Another fun activity!
Using our Generic Spelling Words Word Wall cardsprint out the spelling words and their matching definition.
Students then have to play memory.
Roll, Say and Add
Using the Generic Spelling Words Word Wall cards, place in a pile in front of each student.
Students then roll the dice and must say the first word in the pile.
If they get it correct they can add the number on the dice to their total! The student with the most points wins.
This is a great activity of instant recognition as the faster they go, the quicker their total rises!
Spelling Activity Task Cards – Lower Primary
Another great set of instant word wall activities! More suited to the lower grades.

Word Work Grids –Upper Primary
A great activity that can last all week!
We have a Word Work Grid Version 1 and Word Work Grid Version 2available for download. Print and laminate the grid so that your students can re-use for each set of spelling words.
There are matching worksheets that correspond to most activities on each grid!
