My Guess any ASUS rep will tell you yes it would void the warranty.
I damaged the sticker on my GTX 180 Strix OC last night to change the past, I have to say I was surprised that the factory TIM application was done exceptionally well, no large amount of excess past, not the best past but a very well done application, I have not tested temps yet -

I water-cool all my GPUs so have seen lots of paste jobs…it’s more the quantity and quality of the pasting than the paste itself that can give you temp problems. Seen some terrible paste jobs and replacing with my own thin layer has made a lot of difference in the past. Had an AMD 290 that dropped over 10 degrees on load when paste was redone and cooler properly tightened…
